Team Aloha named
Kiki Robertson heads the new lineup for Team Aloha, a select squad of girls basketball players.
Robertson, who had a pair of 35-point games for Mid-Pacific last season, is one of a dozen underclassmen who were picked by Mufi Hannemann and head coach Fran Villarmia-Kahawai.
The roster: Sefulu Fa‘avae (Waiakea), Mich’lae Higa (Aiea), Kristle Henry (Kauai), Alohi Robins-Hardy (Kamehameha), Sarah Liva (Hanalani), Jade Botelho (‘Iolani), Courtney Kaupu (Konawaena), Lilia Maio (Kamehameha), Casey Poe (Kamehameha-Hawaii), Fia Tailele-Latu (Kahuku), Carissa McBride (Leilehua) and Robertson.
Team Aloha is in its sixth year, started by Hannemann as an outgrowth of his annual Basketball Jamboree. The team will play in the Tournament of Champions in Los Angeles, April 21-22.
Wagner to step down
After a decade as athletic director at Kamehameha-Hawaii, Bob Wagner plans to retire.
The former University of Hawaii football coach will step down on Aug. 1.
“It’s been a quick 10 years,” he said. “It has been a great honor to be the first athletic director at Kamehameha-Hawaii.”
Crusaders clinic
Saint Louis will host a football clinic for boys and girls in grades 4-8, May 19-20. The event will be held at the school’s Clarence T.C. Ching Field. For more information, go to saintlouishawaii.org.
