Hawaii represented in world robotics event

Robots from Waialua and Waiakea High School balanced on a bridge as a collaborative effort during a practice run at the Hawaii Regional Robotics Competition/First Robotics Competition on Thursday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawaii is being represented at the 2012 FIRST Championship robotics event in St. Louis, Mo., by teams from seven high schools and one elementary school.

The participating schools are Waialua High and Intermediate; Punahou School and Kalani High School as well as Island Pacific Academy from Oahu; Kealakehe and Kohala High Schools from Hawaii island and Maui’s Baldwin High School.

Three separate robotics competitions comprise the event including FIRST Robotics Competition Championship, the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championship and the FIRST LEGO League World Festival. The Junior FIRST LEGO League World Festival Expo also is part of the event at the Edward Jones Dome.
