A pick-up basketball game turned violent, sending one teenager to the hospital and leading to the arrest of a 14-year-old boy in Kalihi, police said.

Th 14-year-old boy approached a 15-year-old boy playing basketball on school grounds before school began about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday and asked if he could play, police said.

When the older boy said no, the suspect tackled the victim, who hit his head on the basketball court and lost consciousness. He was taken to the hospital in serious condition. 

Police were called to the hospital on Wednesday. Officers opened an assault case and arrested the 14-year-old boy at an unidentified school.
