Energy grant for Hawaii island

The Hawaii Ocean Science and Technology Park on Hawaii island will receive $400,000 from the U.S. Department of Energy to fund development and deployment of distributed energy systems.

HOST Park, as it is called, is run by the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii, known as NELHA.

The grant will help HOST Park officials analyze how advanced energy technology could improve energy  performance at the park, through development of a micro-grid, and will provide related updates to the state’s renewable energy and distributed energy resources plan.
