The Filipino Community Center in Waipahu is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week.
The center’s bamboo instrument band, the Banda Kawayan, and the choral and dance troop Himig ng Indak will perform at an open house that begins at 4 p.m. Friday. The theme of the open house is celebration and thanks.
The center is the largest Filipino community center outside of the Philippines. It has a tile roof inspired by Spanish architecture and evokes old Manila. The three-story building includes ballrooms, a courtyard, and a technology center, and art gallery.
