‘Iolani alum named All-American
Northern Colorado outfielder Jensen Park, a 2011 ‘Iolani graduate, was named to Lousville Slugger’s Freshman All-America team last week.
Park was one of 15 outfielders honored after hitting .363 with 33 runs scored and 38 RBIs in 212 at-bats for the Bears. His batting average was the second-best on the team and he was third in RBIs. He was also named to the All-Great West Conference second team.
As reported last week, Kamehameha alumnus Kewby Meyer, a Nevada first baseman, also made the team.
Hawaii to add 3 Division I transfers
University of Hawaii women’s volleyball coach Dave Shoji officially announced that three Division I transfers will join the team this fall.
Alyssa Longo (Penn State), Ashley Kastl (Arizona State) and Stephanie Hagins (Washington State) will “add depth at their respective positions,” Shoji said. “We lost some quality players due to graduation and other reasons, and each brings top college experience to our team.”
Longo played in all 33 matches last season for the Nittany Lions and was second on the team in service aces and assists. Kastl led ASU in kills and kills per set as an outside hitter and Hagins, a 6-4 sophomore, comes to UH after two seasons for the Cougars, the first as a redshirt.
