Honolulu’s Hattori ousted in Round of 16
Honolulu’s Richard Hattori lost in the Round of 16 on Thursday at the 65th U.S. Junior Amateur Championship at Stratham, N.H.
Hattori defeated Ryan Stovash, of Orlando, Fla., 2 and 1, in the Round of 32. The match was all square after Stovash won the 14th hole with a birdie. Hattori took the next two holes with a birdie on the 15th and par on the 16th. Hattori closed out Stovash when both parred the 17th.
In the Round of 16, Branson Davis, of McKinney, Texas, beat Hattori 1 up. Davis went 1 up with a par on the 16th. Hattori tied it with a par on the next hole, but lost the match with a double bogey on the 18th.
Kapolei’s Kaui eliminated in Round of 16
Kapolei’s Alexandra Kaui lost in the Round of 16 on Thursday at the 64th U.S. Girls Junior Championship at Daly City, Calif.
Kaui defeated Elisabeth Bernabe, of Anaheim Hills, Calif., 2 and 1, in the Round of 32. Kaui took a 1-up lead with a birdie on No. 14. Kaui and Bernabe parred the next hole, and Kaui won the 16th with a birdie. The match ended when both parred No. 17.
In the Round of 32, Lauren Diaz-Yi, of Thousand Oaks, Calif., defeated Kaui 3 and 2. The match was all square through 9, and Diaz-Yi took control by winning the next three holes.
Kaui, who moved to Las Vegas, is a high school senior and has verbally committed to Oklahoma.
Fujikawa misses cut on eGolf Tour
Honolulu’s Tadd Fujikawa shot a second-round 8-over-par 80 on Thursday and missed the cut at the eGolf Tour’s inaugural River Landing Open in Wallace, N.C.
Fujikawa’s two-day total was 13-over 157. The leader is Chesson Hadley, of Raleigh, N.C., who is at 11-under 133.
