Chris McMillian has been hired as the Hawaii men’s basketball team’s director of operations, UH coach Gib Arnold announced on Friday.

McMillian, formerly the team’s strength and conditioning coach, replaces Kerry Rupp for the post. Rupp had accepted a full assistant coaching job at Montana.

“Chris has done a great job here the past two years,” Arnold said in a statement released by UH. “It was natural to promote him to the position of director of operations. His future is very bright in the profession.”

McMillian, 32, is a former starting point guard at Wyoming.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given by Coach Arnold,” McMillian said. “I’ve learned a lot (from him) and the entire coaching staff in the past two years and look forward to being a part of the great things that are on the horizon for this basketball program.”
