Suspect sought in Mililani bank robbery
Police are looking for a man who robbed the Mililani Shopping Center branch of American Savings Bank on Friday.
Police said the man entered the branch on Kipapa Drive at about 11:10 a.m. and handed a note to a teller demanding money. He fled in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as in his 30s, about 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing between 180 and 200 pounds.
6 left homeless following Pearl City blaze
Fire destroyed a home in Pearl City early Friday afternoon, leaving six people without a home.
Firefighters arrived at the 1300 block of Hoolauna Street at 12:43 p.m. and saw an estimated 80 percent of the house in flames, said Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman. Three of the six people who live at the three-bedroom house were home at the time and escaped without injury. The cause is under investigation. The fire began in one of the bedrooms, Seelig said.
Damage was estimated at $400,000: $350,000 to the structure and $50,000 to its contents. The fire was declared extinguished at 1:40 p.m.

Paddleboarders off Maui saved
Maui County rescue personnel helped a family of five from Houston on Friday after they were blown about 500 yards offshore from Kalama Park during a paddleboarding outing.
Personnel from the Fire Department’s Rescue 6 and Ocean Safety’s Jet Ski 6
units responded to the 9:45 a.m. alarm.
They reached the father, mother, two daughters and a son and escorted them back to Kamaole Beach Park 1, the county said. All reached shore safely and were unhurt.
