Employees at a Keeaumoku Street storage facility discovered decomposing human remains about 5:40 p.m. Thursday in a freezer.

Police said the renter of the storage locker had defaulted on payment. Workers checked the locker due to the stench.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office took the remains from the building, police said.

The renter had been the subject of a 2011 case in which body parts were found at a Sand Island business property he had been evicted from, according to police.

The man was reportedly teaching an anatomy class at the property.
