Florence advances in Portugal
Hawaii surfer John John Florence defeated Travis Logie 10.17 to 7.70 in the third round of the Rip Curl Pro Portugal in 2-foot waves at Supertubos on Monday.
Florence moved on to the fourth round.
Hawaii’s Dusty Payne is awaiting his third-round heat in the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour contest, which continues today, surf permitting.
Hawaii sailors win regatta
The University of Hawaii coed sailing team started its season with a victory in the Stoney Burke Intersectional Regatta last weekend in San Francisco.
It was the fourth year the Rainbows have won the contest. They beat out 24 teams (a mix of coed and women’s teams) to capture the title this year. The UH women’s team also competed and finished seven overall and tops among women’s teams entered.
