Kozuma and Yamauchi spur Vulcans
Corey Kozuma (70-70—140) sits atop the leaderboard with Hawaii-Hilo teammate Dalen Yamauchi (73-71—144) four strokes back in sole possession of second place through two rounds of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate Invitational at the Waikoloa Kings’ Golf Course.
A foursome, including Hawaii-Hilo’s Kyeton Littel and Hawaii Pacific’s James Fawssett, is tied at 1-over 145 heading into today’s final round.
The Vulcans hold a comfortable lead in the men’s team competition after carding back-to-back 288s for an even-par 576 after two rounds. Trailing Hawaii-Hilo are Simon Fraser (596), Cal State East Bay (600) and Hawaii Pacific (607), among others.
In women’s competition, Grand Canyon’s Charlotte Jaengkit (70-74—144) holds an 8-stroke lead, with Hawaii-Hilo’s Shannon Abarra (78-78—156) leading the local women’s contingent.
Grand Canyon (608) leads the women’s team standings, followed by Cal State East Bay (617), Hawaii-Hilo (632), St. Martin’s (674), St. Mary’s of Texas (685), and HPU (760).

Seasiders stay at No. 8 in poll
Despite winning four straight road matches last week, Brigham Young-Hawaii remained at No. 8 in the AVCA Division II Women’s Volleyball Top 25 released Monday.
The Seasiders, who also received one first-place vote, improved to 18-2 after sweeping all four opponents in straight sets. BYUH is the highest-ranked team in the West Region.
BYUH (18-2, 11-0 PacWest) visits No. 12 Fresno Pacific (19-1, 9-0) tonight and hosts Chaminade on Saturday. The Seasiders have already clinched the PacWest’s automatic bid into the NCAA D-II national tournament with three matches remaining.
