Hawaii falls in 5 to No. 3 Stanford in men’s volleyball
Freshman hitter Siki Zarkovic put down a team-high 16 kills and sophomore hitter Brook Sedore added 14 kills with five aces but it was not enough as unranked Hawaii lost to No. 3 Stanford tonight in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men’s volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center 25-23, 22-25, 33-31, 20-25, 15-9.
It was the fifth time in six home matches that the Warriors had gone to five, losing three. Hawaii (3-7, 2-5) got 13 kills from sophomore hitter JP Marks and 12 kills and seven blocks from sophomore middle Taylor Averill.
The Warriors finished with nine aces, none in the deciding Set 5 where they fell behind early at 9-4. The match lasted 3 hours and 5 minutes.
