Engineering event focuses on girls
Students may determine whether there could be a tech job in their future at the "Wow! That’s Engineering" event from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Waipahu High School.
Hands-on activities, project displays and exhibits are intended to inspire girls in grades 6 to 8 about careers in engineering and technology.
Participating organizations include Society of Women Engineers Hawaiian Islands Professional Section, Hawaiian Electric Co., Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit.
The program is geared toward girls but is open to all middle school students, their parents and educators.
Cost is $5 for students, free for parents and educators. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required at wow2013 hawaii.eventbrite.com. Financial assistance is available; email uhswe.wow@gmail.com for information.
