>> Kansas outfielder Michael Suiter (Punahou ’11) hit .385 (5-for-13) with four runs, two RBIs and two walks, and Justin Protacio (Mid-Pacific ’11) had two hits, drew four walks and drove in three runs as the Jayhawks split a four-game series with Nevada over the weekend. Catcher Kaiana Eldredge (Punahou ’10) singled, drew three walks and drove in four runs, and Robert Kahana (Campbell ’11) threw 12⁄3 shutout innings to earn the win in the opener and took the loss in the finale, allowing two runs on three hits in two innings with two walks and two strikeouts. Nevada first baseman Kewby Meyer (Kamehameha ’11) hit .333 (5-for-15) with a run and an RBI.
>> San Francisco left-hander Sheldon Lee (‘Iolani ’10) started the season opener for the Dons and went five innings, allowing three runs — two earned — on five hits with no walks and two strikeouts and didn’t factor in the decision of a 10-5 loss to Cal Poly on Friday.
>> Cal State Northridge junior Harley Holt (Kamehameha ’10) started Game 2 of a four-game series against Saint Mary’s (Calif.) and earned the win, allowing one run on three hits in 42⁄3 innings with three walks and four strikeouts in an 8-3, seven-inning win Saturday.
>> San Jose State sophomore Kalei Contrades (Saint Louis ’11) singled in his first at-bat of the season, but left the game with an undisclosed injury and did not play the rest of the series against Pacific (Calif.). Tigers catcher Dallas Correa (Saint Louis ’11) hit a pinch-hit single in his only at-bat in a 10-0 loss to the Spartans on Saturday.
>> Loyola Marymount senior Zac Fujimoto (Maryknoll ’08) hit a two-run single as part of a six-run fourth inning to help the Lions defeat Utah 11-2 on Sunday in the rubber game of the series.
>> Cal State East Bay first baseman Naea Kalehuawehe (Kamehameha-Maui ’09) went 3-for-5 with a double and five RBIs in an
8-3 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday.

>> Whittier (Calif.) junior forward Aaron Fernandez (Kalaheo ’10) had eight points, four rebounds an assist and a steal in an 89-60 win over Caltech on Saturday.
>> La Verne sophomore Jourdan Simmonds (‘Iolani ’11) nailed four 3-pointers and finished with 17 points on 5-for-8 shooting with three assists, two rebounds, a steal and a block in an 85-81 win over Cal Lutheran on Saturday.
>> Notre Dame de Namur sophomore guard Micah Dunhour (Academy of the Pacific ’11) had seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in a 66-61 loss to Dixie State on Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
>> Washington State freshman guard Lia Galdeira (Konawaena ’12) hit the game-winning jumper with three seconds remaining to give the Cougars a 51-49 win over Oregon State on Friday. Galdeira finished with a game-high 17 points, five assists and four steals, and guard Dawnyelle Awa (Konawaena ’12) had four assists and three rebounds for WSU.
>> Utah senior guard Iwalani Rodrigues (Kalani ’08) had 11 points, six assists and two rebounds in a 61-52 loss to Arizona on Sunday.

>> Oklahoma freshman Joshua Yee (Thompson Academy ’12) earned a 13.950 on floor, a 14.00 on vault and a 14.1 on parallel bars in a victory over Minnesota on Saturday.

>> Arizona State senior Kahoku Palafox (Maryknoll ’08) earned 9.825 on the beam and 8.750 on the bars in a loss to Stanford on Friday.
>> UC Davis sophomore Tiana Montell (St. Joseph ’11) finished in second place with a 9.775 on vault, came in third on the beam with a 9.750 and scored a 9.650 on bars in a win over Seattle Pacific on Friday.
>> Pennsylvania junior Keolamau Yee (Punahou ’10) scored a 9.70 on beam in a loss to Bridgeport on Sunday in her first meet in two years.
>> Cornell junior Mackenzie Sato (‘Iolani ’10) earned a 9.550 on floor in a quad meet on Sunday.
SOFTBALL
>> Brigham Young junior Katie Manuma (Campbell ’10) hit .400 (6-for-15) with a double, home run, three runs and six RBIs to help the Cougars finish 2-3 in the Easton Desert Classic over the weekend. UCLA third baseman Mysha Sataraka (Punahou ’12) hit .462 (6-for-13) with a double, two homers, three runs and six RBIs to lead the Bruins to a perfect 5-0 record.
>> New Mexico State senior Tehani Kaaihue (Kapolei ’09) hit .412 (7-for-17) with a double, a home run and six runs scored and Brennalyn Nakamura (Lahainaluna ’12) hit a pinch-hit RBI single in her only at-bat and scored twice as a pinch runner to help the Aggies finish 3-3 in the Troy Cox Classic over the weekend.
>> Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University sophomore Taylor Rosa-Ramon (Campbell ’11) had two hits and scored twice in a doubleheader split against Rhodes (Tenn.) on Sunday.
MEN’S SWIMMING
>> Pacific (Ore.) sophomore Kramer Ichimura (Mililani ’11) finished fourth in the 400 individual medley (4:15.69) and ninth in both the 200 IM (1:57.85) and 200 butterfly (1:57.56) at the Northwest Conference championships, Feb. 8-10. Whitman (Wash.) sophomore Dane Kawamoto (Mililani ’11) finished fifth in the 400 IM (4:15.76), 13th in the 200 butterfly (1:59.40) and 14th in the 200 IM (2:00.20). Willamette (Ore.) freshman Kulananalu Tarnas (Hawaii Prep ’12) placed 13th in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.60) and 15th in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.15), while teammate Andrew Lum (Punahou ’12) was 14th in the 200 butterfly (2:01.29) and 15th in the 100 butterfly (54.20). Linfield (Ore.) freshman Ian White (Le Jardin ’12) was 11th in the 100 butterfly (52.83), 15th in the 200 IM (2:02.04) and 16th in the 100 freestyle (49.39), while teammate Sean Iwamasa (Mililani ’09) was 16th in the 200 butterfly (2:02.47).
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
>> Linfield (Ore.) sophomore Kelcie Kimura (‘Iolani ’11) broke a school record in the 100 freestyle, finishing in fourth place (53.04) at the Northwest Conference championships, Feb. 8-10. Kimura also placed seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:58.42) and 10th in the 50 free (25.07), while teammate Brandi Halemano (Punahou ’11) was 13th in the 100 breaststroke (1:10.12). Pacific Lutheran freshman Kelly Jernigan (Kealakehe ’12) was eighth in the 200 butterfly (2:15.90), 15th in the 100 fly (1:00.71) and 16th in the 20 free (25.60), and Willamette (Ore.) senior Kayla Kosaki (Waiakea ’09) was 15th in the 200 fly (2:21.68).
WOMEN’S TENNIS
>> George Fox (Ore.) junior Shaina Inn (Hawaii Baptist ’11) won her doubles match in the No. 1 flight, but lost at No. 3 singles in a 6-3 defeat to Puget Sound on Saturday.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
>> Brigham Young sophomore Jaylen Reyes (Kamehameha ’11) tallied nine digs in a four-set win over Southern Cal on Saturday. Setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha ’11) had 44 assists, 12 digs and six aces, and Ben Lam (Punahou ’11) had two kills in four swings for the Trojans. Reyes had two digs in a five-set loss to Pepperdine on Friday. Waves sophomore outside Josh Taylor (Punahou ’11) hit .406 with 20 kills, six digs, two block assists and an ace.
>> Long Beach State junior Taylor Crabb (Punahou ’10) hit .444 with a match-high 15 kills, four digs and a solo block in a three-set sweep of Stanford on Saturday. Sophomore libero Scott Sakaida (‘Iolani ’10) had three digs and an assist, and freshman Gabriel Vega (‘Iolani ’12) added two kills for the Cardinal.
>> Holy Names (Calif.) sophomore Keenan Paulos (Saint Louis ’11) had 10 kills and 10 digs, and setter Clyde Ortega (Waipahu ’12) had 23 assists and three digs in a loss to UC Santa Cruz last Wednesday. Mike Gomez (Maryknoll ’10) had six digs and an assist, Kaili Schumacher-Lagundino (Waimea ’12) had six digs and an ace, Bryson-Joey Morn (Farrington ’11) had seven assists and three digs and sophomore middle Ryan Barrett (Radford ’10) added an ace, a kill and a dig for the Hawks.
>> Concordia-Irvine freshman outside Chad Barretta (Hawaii Baptist ’12) hit .433 with 17 kills, 11 digs and two solo blocks in a win over Grand Canyon on Friday.

>> Villanova freshman Sarina Shibata (Punahou ’12) scored three goals in an 11-6 loss to George Washington on Sunday in the final game of the Bison Invite tournament. Senior Hannah Ishida (Punahou ’09) scored once for the Wildcats in a 9-4 loss to Bucknell earlier on Sunday, and Naomi Ng (Punahou ’12) netted a goal in a 12-3 loss to Indiana on Saturday.
