Hilo woman identified as accident victim
Pamela G. Wilson, 53, of Hilo was the woman who died from injuries Saturday when she was struck by a car at Hawaii Belt Road and Pukihae Street in Hilo, Hawaii County police said.
Officers have begun a negligent-homicide investigation and asked for an autopsy.

Wilson’s death was the 10th traffic fatality on Hawaii island this year compared with seven at the same time last year.
Driver arrested in Waimea woman’s death
The 26-year-old woman who died after being hit by an SUV in Kipu on Saturday was Jill Garnett of Waimea, Kauai police said.
The driver of the SUV was arrested for second-degree negligent homicide, police said. He was released pending further investigation.
According to a preliminary police report, Garnett was walking west along the shoulder of Kaumualii Highway at about 8:55 a.m. when the eastbound SUV hit her near the Kipu Road junction.
3-year-old dies after being hit by rolling truck
A 3-year-old Hilo boy died Friday afternoon after being run over by a pickup truck that rolled in a driveway, police said Monday. Police identified the victim as Treston S.C. Crowley.
Police said the boy was playing in the truck in the Eden Roc subdivision of Mountain View when he apparently moved the shifter to put the truck into gear. As the truck rolled backward, the boy jumped out and was run over.
Fire rescue personnel took the boy to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 4:31 p.m.
