Police and bystanders stood at the scene at Queen Emma Gardens on Monday in downtown Honolulu after an accident involving an 88-year-old woman. The woman was brought to the Queen’s Medical Center

The woman who was struck and killed by a private garbage truck Monday morning has been identified as Margaret Soo Kyung Kim, 88, of Nuuanu.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said Kim died of blunt force injuries to her torso caused by a motor vehicle collision.

Police said Kim was returning from her morning walk to her apartment at the Queen Emma Gardens condominium complex when she apparently walked behind the Rolloffs Hawaii truck while it was backing up in a loading zone.

She was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center, where she died.
