Mimi Fong to show latest at Neiman Marcus

Laguna Beach-based men’s shirt and neckwear designer Mimi Fong will show her latest creations during a spring trunk show from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at Neiman Marcus.

Her handcrafted pieces incorporate luxurious textiles with splashes of eye-catching color and unexpected patterns.

Logo designs sought for Waikiki Roughwater

The Waikiki Roughwater Swim Committee is searching for the perfect design for the T-shirt that will go to participants and volunteers in the 44th annual competition. The winner of the design contest will receive $300.

The shirt’s design must measure 12 inches square, centered on the shirt back, and include the words "44th Waikiki Roughwater Swim." The logo will be used on the front pocket.

The design should include a Hawaiian/Waikiki/ocean/swimmingmotif. For inspiration, the 2012 winning design can be viewed at www.wrswim.com.

The race will take place on Labor Day, Sept. 2, but the deadline for digital submissions is April 30. The winner will be determined at the end of May. Submit questions and artwork to Kaia Hedlund at kaiawrs@gmail.com.

Magazine creates Macy’s apparel collection

Following 10 years of publishing, Teen Vogue has expanded into retail apparel with a collection aimed at fashion-savvy girls, available at Macy’s.

Curated by Teen Vogue editors, the collection embraces the brand’s quirky-chic accents. It includes maxi dresses, jumpsuits, printed leggings, short dresses, chambray shirts, bandeaus, shorts, bralettes, jackets and tanks. This spring the brand will focus on five trends: bejeweled, neon, sheer, vests and denim dressing.

Through the year, approximately 15 new pieces will rotate onto the floor every month, priced from $20 to $60.

Institute offers free services to prom-goers

The Paul Brown Institute at Rem­ing­ton College is offering free salon services this month to high school students headed to their proms.

Instructors and students will provide up-dos, manicures, pedicures and makeup for girls, and haircuts for guys.

The Prom Night Makeovers will be available Fridays and Saturdays through April 20 at the school, 1132 Bishop St. Suite 550. For appointments call 587-8448.
