Haleiwa woman arrested for allegedly killing dog
A 36-year-old Haleiwa woman turned herself into police after she allegedly killed her pet dog for misbehaving.
Police said the suspect said she was upset with the dog’s behavior and was trying to discipline the animal when it died.
The incident occurred at the suspect’s home at 6 p.m. Sunday. She remains in custody.
After she surrendered to police, she was arrested on suspicion of cruelty to animals.
The Humane Society will perform the necropsy of the animal Monday to determine cause of death.
A spokeswoman for the Humane Society declined to say what the suspect used to try to discipline the dog, or disclose the sex and breed of the animal.
