Teenager arrested in attack on officer
A 15-year-old boy is in custody for allegedly attacking a deputy sheriff who was on a special-duty assignment at an Ewa Beach restaurant Wednesday.
Police said the incident occurred at 2:15 p.m. when the deputy sheriff stopped the youth for allegedly trespassing. The suspect then allegedly attacked the deputy, who subdued and arrested him. Both the suspect and deputy were treated by paramedics at the scene.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, criminal trespassing and resisting arrest.
Suspect sought in Waikiki assault
Honolulu police detectives said they are seeking the public’s help in locating witnesses or the suspect in an assault on a man who was later transported in critical condition to a hospital.
The incident occurred at 5 a.m. Sunday on Kuhio Avenue near Seaside Avenue.
A man struck the victim, who was sitting on the sidewalk fronting 2260 Kuhio Ave., police said. The alleged assailant, a man about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 160 pounds, was wearing a gray T-shirt, plaid shorts and black cap.
Hilo residence goes up in flames
A single-story house was destroyed in a fire makai of Hilo Airport on Thursday morning.
The house at 1922 Kalanianaole Ave. was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived at 8:26 a.m., a fire spokesman said.
The fire was extinguished about 42 minutes after the initial alarm at 8:20 a.m., according to a fire incident report.
Fire Department officials said the blaze caused an estimated $45,000 in damage. The cause was under investigation.

Traffic dispute on Highway 130 leads to assault
Hawaii County police are investigating a road rage incident that occurred this week that led to a person throwing objects at the victim’s car and forcing it off Highway 130 near Keeau.
Police are seeking witnesses and information about the event that occurred at 6:45 p.m. Monday.
The incident occurred after a traffic dispute when the driver of a blue Honda sedan hurled objects at the victim’s car and forced it onto the shoulder of Highway 130 near the 4-mile marker. The suspect then reached into the victim’s vehicle and assaulted him. Police have initiated an unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle case.
The victim was driving a champagne-colored Honda sedan and heading toward Pahoa.
