A service for Air Force Capt. Reid Kijiro Nishizuka, who was killed April 27 when the aircraft he was piloting crashed in Afghanistan, will be held Saturday at Central Union Church.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. and the service will begin at 6 p.m.
Nishizuka will be buried at 1 p.m. Monday at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
Nishizuka, 30, a native of Kailua, was one of four airmen killed when their MC-12 reconnaissance airplane crashed in Zabul province, about 110 miles northeast of Kandahar Airfield.
Nishizuka was a 2000 graduate of Kailua High School and earned an aerospace engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame.
He served with the 427th Reconnaissance Squadron at Beale Air Force Base in Northern California, and deployed to Afghanistan in mid-April. He flew more than 200 combat missions and received 10 Air Medals, two Air Force Commendation Medals and two Air Force Achievement Medals.
He is survived by father Ricky; mother Karyn Hatakeyama; stepfather Dr. Deane Hatakeyama; stepmother Norene; brothers Chad and Reyn; stepsisters Leinelle Baptista and Lyllis Manzano; and grandparents Shizuichi and Masako Nishizuka, and Ruth Kushimaejo.
