The state has issued a brown water advisory for Waimea Bay and Keehi Lagoon on Oahu following Tuesday’s heavy rains.

The public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens such as leptospirosis, chemicals and associated flood debris.

If coastal waters are turbid and brown, stay out, said today’s advisory from the Clean Water Branch of the Department of Health.
