Mother arrested in toddler poisoning
A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault Friday morning after her 20-month-old son ingested dangerous drugs and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The toddler swallowed the drugs while the suspect was caring for him at their Pearl City home, police said. The woman was arrested about 8:30 a.m. Friday on suspicion of second-degree assault, police said.
3 hikers hurt by falling rock in Manoa
Three people were injured by a falling rock along the Manoa Tunnel trail on Saturday afternoon.
The hikers were among several people who had stopped near a waterfall.

Fire Department spokesman Capt. Chris Ah Mook Sang said a rock apparently broke off above the waterfall and struck a 33-year-old man and two girls, ages 13 and 7. The younger girl sustained a back injury and was airlifted off the trail. The older girl suffered a wrist injury and was able to walk out on her own. Both girls, who were hiking with their family, were taken to the Queen’s Medical Center for treatment.
The man, who was part of the same hiking party, declined treatment for a minor leg injury.
Kauai crash victim airlifted to Queen’s
A motorcyclist was medevaced to the Queen’s Medical Center Friday evening after sustaining serious injuries in a crash with a pickup truck in Koloa, Kauai.
The 37-year-old man was driving the motorcycle north on Maluhia Road near Anne Knudsen Park at 4:54 p.m. when he collided with a southbound pickup truck that was turning left onto Emi Road.
The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. Maluhia Road was closed for about three hours after the crash.
