A 12-inch water main break shut down Kaahumanu Street between Hoolauae Street and Laauhuahua Place in Pearl City about 1 p.m.
The two makai-bound lanes are closed while the mauka lanes are being contra-flowed as city Board of Water Supply crews work on a fix, board officials said.
Approximately 50 customers were affected initially, but workers were able to create a bypass that reduced the number of customers affected to 15. A water wagon is being placed at Waiau District Park.
Repairs are expected to continue into Saturday morning, board officials said.
Meanwhile, crews are still on the scene of a 24-inch main break near Waialae Beach Park in Kahala.

Service, which was lost Thursday, was returned to about five customers, including the Waialae Country Club, about 2:30 p.m. But crews are expected to continue repairing one lane of Kahala Avenue near Kealaolu Avenue into the evening.
One lane of Kahala is being used to contraflow traffic between Kealaolu and the Kahala Hotel and Resort. Special duty officers are assisting with traffic.
