Highway work will close lanes
State transportation officials advise motorists of evening lane closures in the Ewa-bound H-1 freeway for viaduct deck repairs from Waimalu to Waiawa.
Three right lanes will be closed in the westbound direction between the Kaonohi Street overpass and the H-1/H-2 merge from 7:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. nightly on Tuesday through Friday morning.

On Wednesday, two right lanes will be closed on the H-1 freeway in the eastbound direction between the Pearlridge/Waimalu offramp and the Waikele/Waipahu offramp for viaduct deck repairs. The work will be from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
There will be two lane closures on the Waikele/Waipahu Street offramp on the freeway in the westbound direction between the Waipahu Street overpass and Kunia exit from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for utility repairs.
Scenic byways status on agenda
The proposed designation of Waikiki-Kauhale O Ho‘okipa, or Waikiki-Home of Hospitality, in the Hawaii Scenic Byways Program will be discussed at a public meeting Wednesday by the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association.
Included in the discussion will be an update on the status of the application for scenic byways designation.
The Hawaii Scenic Byways Program is part of the National Scenic Byways Program that showcases roads throughout Hawaii.

2 men indicted in sex assaults
HILO » Two Hawaii island men have been indicted on sex assault charges in separate, unrelated cases.
Chance Vince Letreta is charged with sex assault of a girl under the age of 14 between 2008 and 2009. Phil James is charged with kidnapping and sex assault of a woman.
Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports a Kona grand jury indicted Letreta, 34, of Kailua-Kona and James, 31, of Ocean View on Aug. 13.
According to court records, Letreta has 15 prior convictions including domestic abuse and auto theft. He could not be reached for comment Friday at Halawa Correctional Facility on Oahu, where he’s being held on $50,000 bail.
Court records show James has seven prior convictions, but none for felonies. He could not be reached Friday at Hawaii County Correctional Center, where he is being held on $50,000 bail.
