Woman walking up driveway struck by car
A car driven by a 49-year-old man struck and critically injured a woman Wednesday at the Windward City Shopping Center in Kaneohe.
Emergency Medical Services said the woman, in her early 30s, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and the driver was in serious condition.
Witnesses told police the man, who was driving a Mazda sedan, may have experienced a medical condition before the collision, said Lt. Robert Towne.
Towne said the woman was walking up a driveway inside the shopping center toward 24-Hour Fitness when she was hit just before 4:39 p.m. The car continued down the driveway, crossed Aumoku Street and drove into a chain-link fence that leads to a house, he said.
Police shut down Aumoku Street between Koa Kahiko Street and the Aumoku Street entrance to the shopping center at 45-480 Kaneohe Bay Drive.
