A 36-year-old man stole a tow truck briefly Saturday afternoon because his car was about to be towed, police said.

According to police documents, a tow truck operator attempted to tow the man’s vehicle, which was parked on private property, in the Waikiki area around 3:15 p.m.

The man then harassed the tow truck driver and entered the unattended truck, driving it across the street, police said. He was arrested around 3:45 p.m. on suspicion of unauthorized control of a motor vehicle.
