More than 300 loan agents on expired list
A state regulator Thursday released a list of more than 300 Hawaii mortgage loan originators that failed to renew their licenses and are unable to lawfully process new mortgages.
Commissioner of Financial Institutions Iris Ikeda-Catalani warned that consumers should check that their mortgage agent renewed his or her license with the state’s Division of Financial Institutions. A mortgage processed by a mortgage loan originator or mortgage loan origination company without renewal will be considered unlicensed activity, according to a news release from the division.
The mortgage loan originators who did not renew their licenses can do so until Feb. 28 and would become legal again once the license is renewed. A list of the mortgage loan originators that did not renew as of Thursday is posted on the division’s website at cca.hawaii.gov/dfi.
