Motorist critically injured in 2-car collision
A 64-year-old Hanalei man driving a Nissan sedan was critically injured Thursday in a two-car crash on Kuhio Highway near the Hanalei bridge, Kauai police said.
The crash occurred at about 3:45 p.m. between the Nissan sedan and a Jeep sport utility vehicle headed in the opposite direction on the highway.
Police said the Nissan was heading down a hill toward Hanalei town when it crossed the centerline near the hairpin turn, and the SUV struck the car’s passenger side.
The SUV driver and passenger sustained minor injuries and did not require treatment, police said. The Nissan driver was taken in critical condition to Wilcox Hospital.
Waipahu man charged in 3 bank robberies
Prosecutors have charged a 55-year-old Waipahu man with robbing a Bank of Hawaii branch three times.
Edmund Lisowski allegedly robbed the Bankoh branch in Waipahu on Oct. 16, Nov. 22 and Monday, police said.
Prosecutors charged Lisowski on Wednesday with three counts of second-degree robbery and second-degree theft. He is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
Lisowski walked into the Bankoh Waipahu branch at 11:25 a.m. Monday and allegedly passed the teller a demand note. Upon receiving the money, he fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said. An all-points bulletin was issued, and police found and detained him. After he was identified by witnesses, police arrested him.
