Moore, Manuel make Roxy Pro quarterfinal
Hawaii’s Carissa Moore, the defending ASP women’s world champion, won her third-round heat today to move on to the quarterfinals of the Roxy Pro Gold Coast surf contest in Queensland, Australia.
Malia Manuel, also from Hawaii, made the quarterfinals, too. After placing second in her three-woman third-round heat, she took second in the fourth round to advance.
Hawaii’s Alessa Quizon got through to the fourth round, where she lost and was eliminated.
Hawaii’s John John Florence and Sebastian Zietz both lost their second-round heats Monday and were eliminated from the Quiksilver Pro, the ASP men’s contest in Queensland.
Hawaii’s Fred Patacchia is still in the chase. He will surf against Tahiti’s Michel Bourez in the third round.
