Chin leads State Amateur

Andrew Chin shot a 3-under par 69 to lead Brent Grant and Kyle Suppa by a stroke after the first round of the Hawaii State Amateur at Pearl County Club.

Chin shot a 33 on the front and finished with five birdies and two bogeys. Raymond Tendo of Maui leads the senior division by a stroke over Aiea’s Mike Kawate.

Hall, Gismervik qualify for NCAAs

Hawaii divers Lauren Hill and Amund Gismervik earned bronze medals at the NCAA Zone E Diving Regional at Colorado Springs on Thursday.

That performance qualified both divers for their first NCAA championships.
