Two festivals at the Bishop Museum next month offer opportunities to explore Hawaiian culture and healthy living habits while getting free admission to the museum.
The Grow Hawaiian Festival highlights Hawaii’s culture, crafts and native plants from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 5.
The festival, presented by the Hawaiian Electric Co., showcases traditional artisans who will teach crafts, including how to make lei, weave lau hala, print kapa and craft Hawaiian implements.
The family-friendly festivities include Hawaiian games and entertainment by local musicians Holunape and Na Hoa.
Hawaiian-style food, native plants and products made in Hawaii will be for sale.

A week later the YMCA Healthy Kids Day will give museum visitors the opportunity to learn about being healthy with activities, games and prizes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 12.

Both the Grow Hawaiian Festival and Healthy Kids Day are free for kamaaina and military with ID and include admission to Bishop Museum exhibits, including the traveling show "Meet! Doraemon: Japan’s Time-Traveling Cat."
