Have you hugged your keiki today?
With all the horrific news recently about parents who fatally abused their children, now seems a good time to give your own keiki a hug — even if they’re already grown up.
Yes, children can be challenging, but they never had a say in who their parents would be, and it’s simply wrong to abuse them. Help them as they grow, and enjoy them while you can. Life is precious — and it can be taken from us in an instant. Every extra moment we get to share with those closest to us is a priceless gift. Take advantage of those gifts.
Another reason to visit Lanai
For the man who has everything: his very own film festival.
That’s the latest headline in billionaire Larry Ellison’s ongoing adventures in paradise.
To recap: The Oracle CEO bought Lanai, or most of it, from fellow billionaire David Murdock in June 2012. In February 2013, Ellison bought Island Air, the interisland airlines that soon dropped its Molokai routes, but has just spent $61 million for two new 71-seat planes. Last month, Ellison made more waves (pun intended) for saying he wanted the next America’s Cup sailing race held in Hawaii; his Oracle Team USA is the reigning Cup champion so can pick the venue. Now, the busy billionaire is creating the annual Lanai Documentary Film Festival, in an effort to "ignite and lead conversations for worldwide change by empowering the individual."
Stay tuned for details; it’ll be interesting to see if this fest will be geared more for the 99 percent or the 1 percent.
