State archery tournament Saturday
The Aloha State Archery Association hosts its state 900 tournament Saturday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Competition is held at various distances for ages 11 and under through 18 and older. Only current NFAA members are eligible for awards; non-members may participate.
The entry fees are $15 for youth (14 and under) and $25 for 15 and older. Registration is from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m., with competition starting at 9 a.m.

Mountain bike workshop Saturday
The Mountain Bike Hawaii Club is offering a maintenance and bike-building workshop Saturday in Laie.
Participants will learn how to do maintenance on provided bikes or learn to build one. The two-hour workshop begins at 10 a.m. at 55-149 Kulanui Street and will be followed by a group ride and barbecue.
The cost is $5 for non-club members and free for MTBH Riders Club members.
Also, the club is hosting the Greg Dougherty’s XC Race for Cancer on June 14 at Gunstock Ranch. The race is a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Foundation. The entry fee is $50. The race begins at 9 a.m.
Kaiwi Challenge OC-1 race Sunday
California’s Danny Ching returns to defend his title in Sunday’s Maui Jim Kaiwi Channel Solo OC-1 World Championship.
The 32-mile race, open to OC-1 and OC-2 competitors, begins at 9 a.m. The first finishers in the record field of more than 120 are expected around 12:30 p.m. at the dock behind The Shack in Hawaii Kai.
In 2013, Ching edged the Big Island’s Daniel Chun by 2 seconds, winning in 4 hours, 58 minutes, 3 seconds.
Youth cricket program offered
The Honolulu Cricket Club is holding a free program in June designed to introduce youth to the sport.
The sessions are open to boys and girls, ages 8-16, and scheduled for Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Kapiolani Park. Equipment will be provided.
Instructors will teach the basics of batting, bowling (pitching) and fielding as well as match strategies.

Roller derby at Palama Settlement
The South Shore Sirens and Leahi Diamond Dolls, the two Pacific Roller Derby original Oahu teams, meet on the flat track May 31, at Palama Settlement Gym
The show begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $10 for ages 13 and older. There is no charge for 12 and under.
North Shore Swim Series adds fifth race
The North Shore Soap Factory Laniakea to Pua‘ena Point Swim, a 1.9-mile race on July 26, has been added to the North Shore Swim Series, bringing to five the number of events.
The swim series opens with the June 14 Aloha Salads Summer Sprint, a 1-mile swim from Sunset Beach to Ehukai Beach. The other races are the June 28 Cholo’s Waimea Bay Swim; the July 12 JACO Chun’s to Waimea; and the Aug. 9 Jamba Juice North Shore Challenge.
