Man found floating in waters off Lahaina is identified
Maui police identified a 63-year-old man who died Wednesday after he was found floating motionless off Black Rock in Lahaina as Eugene Chu of San Bernardino, Calif.
Police said beachgoers spotted Chu at about 11:22 a.m. Wednesday floating face down 75 yards from shore.
Beachgoers pulled him to shore and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until emergency personnel arrived.
Fire personnel continued CPR, but could not revive him.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
