"Project Runway" Season 13
Episode 10: Muse on the Street
Last week, the "Project Runway" designers were sent outdoors to look for "real" women for a makeover challenge.
Designers had trouble finding people willing to model, and Hawaii designer Kini Zamora was relieved when one girl said yes. But he learned that she doesn’t enjoy dressing up and her taste runs to tie-dye and boho clothing, which are incompatible with his sleek, structured aesthetic. He worried aloud, "Oh boy, that isn’t my style at all. Maybe I picked the wrong person."
In the workroom he is stuck, but finally had an aha! moment when he thought of his mom and her advice to avoid going overboard. Remembering her humble style, he decided to use denim, and came up with a dark denim jacket paired with a paler chambray dress that he imagined as a date-night outfit.
During judging, designer Zac Posen praised Zamora’s look as being "perfectly polished."
Judge Nina Garcia called Zamora’s jacket "phenomenal," if too casual by her date-night standards.
Zamora ended up safely in the top three, while Korina Emmerich won for a motorcycle jacket and skirt ensemble. And Alexander Knox was sent home.
"Project Runway" airs 7:30 p.m. Thursdays on Lifetime. Recaps appear at www.honolulupulse.com/ fashiontribe.
