Three people were seriously injured when a truck collided with a car in Maili on Sunday.

The collision occurred around 6:40 p.m. on Farrington Highway and St. John’s Road.

The driver and passenger of the truck, a 55-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman, were transported to an area hospital. The 68-year-old male driver of the car was taken to a local trauma center.

Police closed westbound lanes of the highway for nearly three hours following the accident.

This was the fourth time in five days that portions of Farrington Highway have been closed by police.

On Wednesday afternoon, the westbound lanes near the Ko Olina offramp were closed due to a motor vehicle collision.

Early Tuesday morning, the eastbound lanes between Aniani Street and Waipahu Depot Street were closed for gas leak repairs. Around the same time, eastbound lanes fronting the Kapolei Shopping Center were also closed because of a traffic investigation.
