Ocean Safety help with 2 rescues on Oahu
Ocean safety personnel participated in two significant rescue operations at the Mokulua Islands and Chinaman’s Hat on Sunday.
Around 2:15 p.m. lifeguards assisted four people — three adults and a child — who were stranded at Chinaman’s Hat after their watercraft broke down. No injuries were reported.
About two hours later lifeguards joined Emergency Medical Services personnel and Honolulu firefighters in rescuing a 25-year-old woman who suffered an ankle injury after she was swept off a cliff on the backside of the Mokulua Islands. The woman, who fell approximately 20 feet, was transported in serious condition to a local trauma center.
Police hunt for 2 men in Chinatown robbery
Police are looking for two males who robbed a 31-year-old woman of $5,700 Saturday in Chinatown.
One male brandished a handgun and the other brandished a knife and took the money before fleeing on foot at 2:20 p.m., police said.
Suspect allegedly strikes woman with car
Police arrested a 45-year-old man Sunday for allegedly trying to run someone over with a vehicle in Waianae, police said.
Officers arrested the man, who does not have a local address, for investigation of second-degree attempted murder at the main police station at 3:10 a.m. Sunday.
Police said the man struck a 23-year-old woman with a vehicle at about 2 a.m. Saturday. Police did not release a condition of the victim.
Pearl City man charged in sex assault case
A 21-year-old Pearl City man is charged with sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl last month, police said.
Bail for Chaze F. Takeuchi was set at $200,000 after he was charged Saturday with first-degree sexual assault.
Police said the girl reported Takeuchi sexually assaulted her in East Honolulu between 8:30 and 8:50 p.m. Oct. 11.
Takeuchi was arrested at his home Friday morning.
