Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell, left, congratulated Dr. Joseph W.C. Young after his inauguration as honorary mayor of Chinatown on Friday at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza. Speaking to an audience of several hundred of Young’s friends, family and other well- wishers, Caldwell described him as “truly the dean of this community. He is so darn humble, he is such a hard worker. I’ve never seen him take credit for anything, but I’ve seen him show so much love for this community.”
