A 19-year-old man remained in police custody Saturday pending an attempted murder charge in connection with an attack on a 21-year-old man in McCully.

Police said the suspect attacked the victim with a dangerous instrument at about 3:30 a.m. Friday and caused serious injuries. The victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but improved to stable condition.

Police arrested the suspect on Hausten Street at 7:18 a.m. Friday for investigation of second-degree attempted murder and second-degree theft.

Prosecutors have until Sunday morning to charge the suspect or he will be released.
