Gloria Agno, 63, died Friday from injuries she sustained in an attack at her Ewa Beach home last week.

HONOLULU » Police are investigating a murder now that the Ewa Beach grandmother found in her bedroom bleeding from an apparent hammer attack has died.

Gloria Agno, 63, died Friday at the Queen’s Medical Center, a week after her grandson found her in her bedroom, conscious but unable to speak. Grandson Ricky Agno, 21, said there was a hammer found in the room.

Relatives of Gloria Agno said they believe her killer was someone she knew.

Her room was in order, and there were no signs of a robbery, Ricky Agno said. "To me, it’s got to be somebody she knew," he said. "It wouldn’t be somebody who would come in and not take nothing."

It didn’t look like there was a forced entry, said daughter-in-law Sharyl Agno, who also lives in the house on Ahona Street.

Gloria Agno’s family said they can’t imagine anyone wanting to harm the Waikiki hotel worker. "She’s cool with everybody," the grandson said. "She makes food for everybody. All the neighbors come and eat."

She enjoyed fundraising and sponsoring Filipino pageant contestants. The mother of two had eight grandchildren. She worked in the laundry department of Aqua Skyline at Island Colony.

"She had a lot of friends," the daughter-in-law said.

Gloria Agno was in intensive care, and her family thought she would pull through. She was then put on life support after blood had gone into her brain.

"They couldn’t do anything more," Sharyl Agno said. "We had to let her go."
