The New Zealand street art duo BMD unveiled hand-painted artwork Friday on a Hawaiian Airlines catering truck to mark the carrier’s second anniversary of service to Auckland. The artwork highlights the similarities and differences of the natural landscapes, the native animals and the cultures of Hawaii and New Zealand. The piece was completed this week during the Pow! Wow! Hawaii 2015 festival. In the spirit of temporary street art, BMD’s work replaces the “livery” that was painted late last year by a team of local artists led by Kamea Hadar and Jasper Wong, co-directors of Pow! Wow! Hawaii.

Hawaiian Airlines’ passenger traffic jumped 4.7 percent in February even though it filled fewer of its seats.

The state’s largest carrier said Friday that it transported 786,382 people compared with 750,889 in February 2014. Its load factor, or the percentage of seats filled, slipped 1.9 percentage points to 77.9 percent from 79.8 percent.

Revenue passenger miles, or one paying passenger transported one mile, rose 1.8 percent to 1.02 million from 1 million. Available seat miles, or one seat transported one mile, increased 4.3 percent to 1.31 million from 1.25 million.
