HPU men win, women fall to West Florida
In a rematch of the 2014 national championship, the No. 1 Hawaii Pacific men’s tennis team beat No. 2 West Florida 6-3 on Wednesday in Pensacola, Fla. The Sharks (15-0) won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles matches. Defending champion West Florida falls to 18-2.
HPU’s No. 1 duo of Thibaud Berland and Yann Renault earned an 8-4 win over Warren Kuhn and Elio Latella, the top-ranked doubles team in the country. Berland and Renault also earned wins in singles play, accompanied by Jaume Martinez-Vich’s 6-3, 6-2 win and Marko Lenz’s 6-4, 6-1 victory over Kuhn on the No. 1 court.

Nicole Hoynaski picked up HPU’s only singles’ win with a 7-6, 6-1 victory over 18th-ranked Monika Kochanova. Vivian Hansen and Julia Sauer paired for the Sharks’ 8-4 doubles win over Kat Dikosavljevic and Lisa May.
Seasiders sweep Silverswords in tennis
The No. 3 BYU-Hawaii women’s tennis team blanked Chaminade 9-0 on Wednesday at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park.
The Seasiders (26-1) started the day with three wins on the doubles court, led by Jade Griffin and Kanela Adamson’s 8-0 win over the Silverswords’ Melanie Schumilas and Roni Hewett. Griffin and Marisa Pereira also earned 6-0, 6-0 wins in the No. 1 and No. 5 singles matches.
The match concluded Chaminade’s season at 1-11.
Seasiders defeat ‘Swords in dual match
The BYU-Hawaii men’s golf team edged Chaminade by eight strokes in a dual match at Olomana Golf Club on Wednesday. The Seasiders finished with a team score of 283, while the Silverswords posted a season-low 291.
Chaminade’s Jarin Harada clinched the individual title with a 4-under-par 68, one stroke ahead of BYU-Hawaii’s Inoka Kahawaii and Remington Schultz.
