Beech-Nut Nutrition is voluntarily recalling about 1,920 pounds of baby food after an infant was hurt by a small piece of glass inside one of the jars.

The move involves 4-ounce jars of sweet potato and chicken sold under the Stage 2 Beech-Nut Classics name. The company was alerted to the problem by a mother who called its help line, according to spokeswoman Kirsten Whipple.

The action was one of at least two baby-food recalls in North America this week. HJ Heinz Co. said on Wednesday that it was calling back a variety of chicken-and-broth jars in Canada because a small number of safety caps had been dented or popped. If the seal breaks, the food could get spoiled, Heinz said.

Kraft Foods Group Inc., which has agreed to a merger with Heinz, had its own manufacturing flub last month. The company recalled 6.5 million boxes of its hallmark Macaroni and Cheese after customers found metal pieces in boxes.

In Beech-Nut’s case, there was only one report of anyone being hurt from the affected product, which was produced on Dec. 12. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall earlier this week.

“We have no indication that any other jar of our Classics Stage 2 Sweet Potato & Chicken is affected, but as a company of parents and families we are acting with an abundance of caution,” the company said on its website.

Beech-Nut, based in Amsterdam, New York, said parents should consult a doctor if they think their baby has eaten one of the affected products. The jars are marked “DEC 2016” and have the product numbers “12395750815” through “12395750821.”
