  • John Salomon, 39, of the Maui Police Department has been placed on leave after he was charged with driving under the influence Thursday afternoon.

A three-year veteran of the Maui Police Department has been placed on leave after he was charged with driving under the influence Thursday afternoon.

John Salomon, 39, of Pukulani, was arrested and charged at 3:10 p.m. for operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant and refusing to submit to a drug test.

He was released after posting bail of $1,350.

Salomon was forced to surrender his badge and firearms and was placed on personal leave.
