All hail the mango.
The Moana Surfrider is holding its annual Mangoes at the Moana event July 18 in the Banyan Courtyard.
Events run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. They include a farmers market, cooking demonstrations (noon, 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.), and seminars and workshops (2 and 3 p.m.).
Growers can enter a Best Mango contest with two backyard treasures. The victor will win a two-night stay in an oceanfront room at the hotel. Registration begins at 8 a.m.; the contest begins at 9 a.m.
Also on the agenda: a chef’s Mango Throw Down and a Mango Cocktail Mixdown, from noon to 4 p.m.
Mango Throw Down contenders are chefs Shaymus Alwin of Azure Restaurant, James Aptakin of MAC 24/7, Heather Bryan of Top of Waikiki, Ron de Guzman of Stage Restaurant, Darren Demaya of Kai Market, Hiroyuki Mimura of Taormina Italian Restaurant, Ronnie Nasuti of Tiki’s Bar & Grill and Lee Anne Wong of Koko Head Cafe.
The Mango Cocktail Mixdown features impromptu mixology sessions using Cruzan Rum, Sauza Tequila and Jim Beam Bourbon.

Foodie event to go on hiatus
This is the last month to enjoy the grinds at 2nds at Leilehua before they go on hiatus.
The monthly Wahiawa foodie event will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Leilehua High School’s front parking lot. When it’s over, organizers will take a break through the fall and return in November.
Alonzo’s, La Creperie, Nani Kore and Aunty Nee’s Kitchen are among the more than 20 vendors setting up shop.

Breakfast sale benefits youths
The annual Finance Factors Charity Breakfast returns 6:30 to 9 a.m. Friday.
Start off your day with a $6 plate of Portuguese sausage, eggs and rice, and feel good knowing the money spent will benefit a youth education program.
Kupu, a nonprofit agency that caters to youth and environmental issues, is the beneficiary of this year’s event. Funds raised will go toward a program to create a Green Job Training Center in Kakaako.
