Morgan Lane-Tanner of Lane Tanner Jewelry will be among the designers sharing their latest creations at the annual Made in Hawaii Festival, running Friday through Sunday at the Blaisdell Center.
Her handmade designs are unique, set not with gemstones, but with original photography by her husband, Josh Astern. At first glance his colorful coastal photographs might look like striated agates or opals, but look closer and you will see sailboats, Diamond Head, the Mokuluas, sunsets and palm trees.
The photos are framed in sterling silver or 14k gold and preserved using environmentally friendly eco-resin, making it waterproof, durable and translucent. Pieces run $35 to $165. Look for them at Booth 284.
Also, fans of Cut Collective will find new styles at graduated discounts. Buy one item and get 10 percent off, two for 20 percent off and three for 30 percent off. Look for booths 189 and 190.
Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 general and free for children 6 and younger. Discount coupons for $1 off admission are available at First Hawaiian Bank Oahu branches while supplies last. Parking at the Blaisdell will be $6.
