Police release ID of missing Big Isle fisherman

Big Island police have identified a 51-year-old fisherman swept to sea by storm surf at Kaloli Point as Joseph M. Leialoha of Hawaiian Paradise Park.

The Hawaii Fire Department call off search efforts Wednesday for Leialoha, who was knocked off a cliff by a wave at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, during high surf brought on by the passing of Tropical Storm Niala south of the Big Island.

Leialoha was last seen floating about 50 yards offshore.
