Military plans harbor security exercise at Pearl Harbor

The military plans to hold a harbor security exercise at Pearl Harbor later this week.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam says in a news release that visitors to the USS Arizona Memorial and area residents may hear sirens and other loud noises during the training on Wednesday and Thursday.

The military plans to use blank ammunition simulating live fire during the exercise. They also expect increased security at the harbor.

The drills are part of a scheduled exercise to help Navy security forces address threats to installations, commands and units. They drills aren’t being held in response to any specific threat.
