Makakilo man charged with gun and ammo violations

Prosecutors charged a 23-year-old Makakilo man today with four weapons and ammunition violations that stemmed from a traffic stop in Kapolei.

Damien Niumataa was charged with two weapons charges and one ammunition charge. Niumataa’s bail was set at $100,000.

Police stopped at 5:43 p.m. Sunday a vehicle at the intersection of Nohohale and Lihau streets, and allegedly discovered firearms and ammunition inside the vehicle five men were riding in.

Police arrested two 23-year-old men, and men, ages 18, 24 and 27 on weapons violations.

The 27-year-old Makakilo man, who was the driver of the vehicle, Malae Agiga, was also arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of an intoxicant, which he was charged with. He was also arrested on suspicion of consumption and possession of liquor and various weapons violations. Agiga’s bail was set at $1,000.

Two women, ages 27 and 24, at the scene were also arrested and charged with consumption and possession of liquor.
